Photography Project #3

November 30th 1:00pm
cereal boxes and cans with the window background. This looks more like a a factory
of any kind or the living room and dinning table with counter to the right.
A shadow picture can mean more than it looks or what the object is for instance, if  there were a shadow of a water bottle it can define other objects not just a water bottle perhaps, a candle, soda bottle or water glass. so when the pictures were taken they mean more than they look and through out the week of November 30th and December 1st, 2nd, and December 3rd in the morning and evening to give light and motion to the picture the timing was perfect around 1:00 pm and 11:00am
every other picture was taken.
December 1st 11:00 am
These are two mats. They look more like flags even a golf field
and the flags or two unknow pictures.

December 1st 11:30am
This follows the picture of the golf ground its a person trying to say
Hi but what does it look like?  Seems like the person is
thinking perhaps walking.

December 1st 12:00pm
This is a leg. sounds funny but while watching people dance
why? not make something into a picture it can be an inspiration
to someonoe  that wants to walk or dance.
December 2nd 1:00pm
Front and Back of a chair. This looks realistic and I like how they
are both detailed with  every mark and arm handle there is. Since it was
windy the picture came out looking nice. the back of the chair
looks like the front and the front looks like back.

December 3rd 11:00am
Picture of the side of a jetski and truck. I looked like a bicycle even with the pedal, brakes
every detail came right from the jetski.

"ANDY WARHOL"

  • NAME:Andy Warhol

  • OCCUPATION:Painter, Filmmaker

  • BIRTH DATE:August 06, 1928

  • DEATH DATE:February 22, 1987

  • Best Known For

Andy Warhol is famous for his "pop" paintings of everyday consumer goods, like Campbell soup cans, as well as screen-printing portraits of celebrities, like Marilyn Monroe.

Warhol's influence on pop music started with pop art and what it did to America.

Pop art provided  liberation. After all, not only was trash part of the modern landscape, but it had a life and beauty of its own.The Campbell’s Soup Cans are another approach to the same issue. He painted a vast series of cans, each a little different from any other, sometimes obviously and sometimes subtly.

The Marilyns are the first and most famous of Warhol’s Celebrity series. They are silk screened prints on canvases, the same image but different colors each time. Warhol chose silk screening because it was mechanistic rather than personal.

chapter 20 Arts of the Pacific and of the Americas

Ritual Mask this is Mixtec artist living in Tenochtitlan and its a probability not sure of the artist. artist also made gold and silver objects for the Aztecs who the admire there work. this work follows the feature on the women's face and the pearls shell serves for teeth and eyes. such as the mask they would be worn in many ceremonies of song and dance that were central to Aztec life. many of the mask have a long history Mesoamerica. like the mask Pendent deposing a Ruler. the fashioned gold and copper like the mask had on the designed, alloy be the Americas undoing gold fashioned there was a boundary the knowledge of extracting and waring gold this was layers of copper not just clay pendants were precious medals for them and the under cultures such as the Olmec and the Maya had prefer jade. the medals and others objects precious metals spread from Central America since the pendant was solid gold and not in place for ceremonies. yet this might be people who live in south America might have clear ideas or the objects that represent there place.

chapter 20 Arts of the Pacific and of the Americas

Interior of a Maori Meeting House this the mens meeting house the house is understood to be the house body of the sky father. the ridgepole is his spine and rafters are his robs His face is carved on the exterior where the elements symbolize his embracing arms. meeting thus take place within god. this will be there protection place and the place of authority for them. Many of the powerful ancestor are carved in the series of reliefs that line the walls. There has been presence felt in the house, yet the woven were carved by women and this house is just a meeting house for men. As for the temple of the feathered serpent this is located in Mexico from the second century C.E. for them this temple is feathered serpent the meaning of it is unclear to us. yet for them the god of windstorm that6 bring rain the representing aggressive from collar of feathers from there they have the god of rain unlike carving the the body parts like the meeting house. They did have a god which they believed in and had different thoughts on what they would do.

    PRESENTATIONS

Class time with the presentations which were many of them to present and i thought it went well. Many explain what happened to there artist and how they became artist. I personally like when they show videos with there presentations that help understand the artist more and give a better explanation, that also depends what they are presenting. what i learned what about Andy Warhol his paintings and himself were and are bight /powerful he was a superficial guy also what i didn't know was about the lighting images i thought it was a neat thing to show since Ive never heard how long pictures took to take and the development way that was nice to learn. If we were there waiting for eight hours, eight minutes or  seconds that would sound funny for us because now it takes about a second learning about the first person with pictures and taking picture it was great to know.
I hope for this coming project we get to do something fun like the no light project. we came up with ideas that will be more about doing our self kinds things or the group projects. Can't wait till we see what is the project.

ch 21 PABLO PICASSO AND ERNST LUDWIG

Pablo  Picasso  experiment with wonderful ideas i remember learnign from his in elementry i tried to come up with one drawings in class never to be the same he was an inmiring person. he was in Paris but, nothing the same like the other artist he worked with others but, the work his self was great. Picasso would make his work flat when is what a person they had no convention in the model industries in his work there were nontraditional work. he was a womans man once it came to work you cant leave women out since his life was with women all around hard to talke about his and taling abnout his work women are in the painting though his world has brought great work to us we might be able to explain yet the work is done well to us. unlight the painting of people there were the enlightment future the work and doing what humans do with more color unlike close like picasso work the ladys would be close and small in Ernst paintings there is the questions why are the others in the painting from Street Dresden alone?

Chapter 21 Andre Derain VS. Henri Matisse

Andre Derain was only fourteen when he started to paint. Andre did paint his first landscape around the time he started to paint. from there on he started and did great work he made the free color many of his work was good but some just got more attention. he would experiment with his work yet, color for him was the freedom and with the colors he chose to make the painting more vibrant than any other. it seemed as his paintings had emotions he felt in with an expression of his as to say he had a imagine like a beach house just the colors were out of the ordinary than one can imagine. Almost like Henri he has more life to his paintings than just trying to see what will be there in the painting. Free color but, with the imagination of being free with style. this than created an art movement though many though he wasn't a painter since he did do more.  Paintings like Joy of Life inspired the expressionist current in twentieth-century art, which celebrated the body.

    Terminal 5 & Great potlock

Terminal 5 was a great movie I never heard of it and I loved it There were so many things that one airport has and with the beauty and designs its comes together to become a great masterpiece yet, it did fail to stand but, the attempt was great and on video. The art exhibit comes together at an airport and for one night hard work but i would have to say well worth the attempt. Rachel Ward did a fabulous job i was inspired yet, the architect could not hold the entire weight it was dangerous to try the regulations they had . if we would try to do that well it will create a controversies. well at least they have it on tape they will know what it was like since they could have no more. Rachel had said before "We are still at a challenging moment for air travel and this is one of the reasons i decided to pressure terminal 5 at this time. it is also just after the first century of flight. Of course it is not possible to recall the original optimism of flight. That moment is gone forever but it is always possible to retain an outlook of possibility. I think that is what brings together air flight, modernism and contemporary art, each thrive on possibility". brilliant work she did i was inspired with her work.

while watching the movie we did have a pot lock and i thought it was great. After the movie and break time it was time for the presentations simply great and with more details on what is going on with there artist great presentations.

    Chapter 22

Pollock it stated with his principle teacher and there is were he thought about artist and the work that he can show to everyone he was glad he got to see the place as wher  the princlple had thought him. one of his famous paintings is shimmering substance like the one we have in the class room and he had no abstarct on how it went and where to start he just let loose of the brush and went banans with it is was great and exprpessing and relaxting was the deal. the abstarct and the nonrepresentational are more common then beofre when he grasped for terms to speak. unlike Pollock there was willem de Kooning he began his paintings by taking a magaizen and make the picture from there i thought really who would do that but, the picture came out and with more life to the picture i thought it was amasing to see something so different and with more admoration than what the magazien had. he thought about his drawings unlike Pollock he didnt. ther as Pollock and William had a strong sence of abstract.

    Class Visual Culture

Once again i learned the new literacy that Glenn made and that is the education literacy. yet, we did review the other of the literacy i didn't know much about the visual culture and i got more information as Glenn talked about it. there are four type of literacy first, the text literacy the ability to recognize and understand ideas conveyed through visible actions and the images as to say a picture. second, network the first technology like the Internet or the i phones come up with more advances then before. next education literacy Glenn made this one fun and its true education is important and who doesn't need it everyone has gone to the library or used the Internet to look up information and know what is best for them finally, visual literacy Visual literacy is the ability to interpret, negotiate, and make meaning from information presented in the form of an image. we also, did the presentations i thought there was good information and like to l earn more about there artist bio thought since its nice to know where and how they started overall they did a great job i like the pictures and all the information they had. and my favorite " The Reader" i can't believe she didn't confess to what really was happening to her i don't think i could have done the same and i though about my grandmother because when my grand mother came to America she didn't know how to read or write it was hard for her and so she wen to school. people now they are embarrassed if they can't read nor write and i still see that some people just can't  read nor write.

    Emil Nolde/ Hu Yichuan

Emil Nolde was found in the early 20's and he would express him self by woodcutting. the best one yet was the rough work he did by harsh and rough methods but, yet the expression was out and to tell what he though was pretty easy just saying what he could and what he though no need to make comments just woddcutting for him. He was the influential person to other artist around the world like i said yet used his work in society telling the work can describe what to say just like artiost would do with paintings. Also there was Hu Yichuan where he was the first to begin in china and start the woodcutting there was the engraving of the china fighting and tormented by the Japanese invaders. that picture was more about help and trying to say what can we do? the world is like this till this day and paintings can mean more than action just by looking and telling from the woodcuttung from Emil he was mor about him and what he though versus Hu though about more than him his people.

    Movies and presentations

Last week we watched movies and they sure tell us a lot and what i like is going back to , what is reality ? and like the avatar movie was more of what we think and say yet, every movie had a saying and and a meaning on what we think an how others think of the reality around us. I enjoyed avatar because it meant more on how there is two different place and just because on looks different or thinks differently, well that make nothing but, a better place for those people.
As for the presentations, they were great and had more information with pictures than some of the information i looked up before that i really that some of the work was basic but, easily thought said. I thought only really high artist had potential in art work and drawing with oil paint and pencil i liked the work that was well described.

    Class day out !!

Class the was the best last week. we all had to get into groups and find a fascinating portrait and explain to the class everyone had a group and thought what they meant by choosing that specific place. It was fun and even though we didn't get to go on the other adventures for the class this was the best. there where places on campus i haven't been at or that i would never have though about, great ideas. yet, i would have to say the one i thought was the far interesting was the window behind financial aid building it brought out more than just the reflection because, that is what i thought it was but once they added more details to it made more sense to me. There is great art everywhere we just have to look or make it look beyond the imagination on the person that build the building.

    Clares Oldenburg Vs. Rene Magritte

the big scale of the two artist expect something to be or for instant, they might say the bird is small and really no one can play with the bird so why not turn it into a actual figure and create the meaning. claes oldenburge created the effect of shift dramaticlly this meaning like the shoe house. there is the world where everyone is living this life while there are home that have been created but, the shoe is so big. as for rene Marritte, the work is showing us how its not how we think since it can be a delusion.
giving the effect one on one and making is look perfect with an edge on the side with in the portaits. many artist do the sculptures different and add more of a twist using peoples bodys the order of beauty.

    Annette Messager Vs. Jackson Pollock

Jackson Pollock have many balance and worlds wide of colors there are the dashes scratching, lashing storks that make waves all makes it seem likes it just scribbles.
The design of his painting had no relation to the shape or size of the canvas the finished work the canvas was sometimes docked or trimmed to suit the image. All these characteristics were important for the new American painting which matured. He took unity and variety to the extreme he was the first of the drip painting that was forever his fame work. As for Annette Messager relies largely on unity in her work there is tons in common with portray isolated body parts. Yet unlike her work Jacksons work is to be looked at and can mean a description right there but for Annette they meaning like tenderness ocher and over again without looking at the portrait. Both of the portraits repeat a pattern of the unity and ask what does it mean the explanation for the picture they ask.

    BOMB IT ! (Graffitti)

What is graffiti? It can be an expression, political statement, it can even be freedom to many people yet, the origins of graffiti go back to the beginnings of human, societal living. Graffiti has been found on uncovered, ancient, Egyptian monuments, and graffiti even was preserved on walls. Graffiti is the plural form of the Italian word grafficar.

Graffiti signifies drawings, markings, patterns, scribbles, or messages that are painted, written, or carved on a wall or surface. Graffiti also signifies "to scratch" in reference to different wall writings ranging from "cave paintings", bathroom scribbles, or any message that is scratched on walls. That is my point of view because just anything can be art Graffiti if that person is expressing there self and what they think there drawing means. Mr. Z asked us if we though graffiti was a vandalizim or just art he said in the class room it would be like 90 % that Don't think its vandalizim and the other bit it is which its was surprising. But i think anything is art as long as that person thinks it is. like when we watched "BOMB IT" people who do art well there are bad things coming there way in many places they are already going to jail for a long time and they have to do more, community service, pay the fine, there is more than that for them.

Painting means a lot to many people and they have to express them selfs and life even by letting the message out on what is to come to there life of happyness. Graffiti is to share but than later on it became to be money and from there they took the chance to make a living. graffiti in the form of spraycan art is art. It has form, color, and other base properties as well as an arrangement of these elements into structures that qualify. Graffiti might even be like art in a museum.

    Camille Pissarro vs. James Abbott

Camille Pissarro a traditional artist that would carry his palette around and his pigments on them his wooden palette and leaving the colors he set out to make it around the edge. from the upper colors and their mixtures, Pissarro painted a delightful landscape of a farmer and his wife. there are the primary colors he used, secondary colors and Tertiary colors. yet all included in this image of him life. oil wooden painting was the making of reflection of what he thought yet, some of the artist back in the day they didn't use black not much to show or see with is since they had the mixtures of other colors
James Abbott had in mind the colors he wanted to use and what they were for the blue and gold blend well for him and his likes unlike Camille he was in the water color with no pallet but, grayish of a color included the colors are the mood and what he is thinking with what can be representing the role of emotion in taking place with what is art? as for him its the ideas and how he feels with all the temperature of work (chapter 4 page 101) he also, creates the lines strong and stable vertical lines this is not created alone but with the colors he mixes in other situations Camille did not use grayish nor black but he did use a self image.

    Edward Hopper vs. Raphael

Eward's Hoppers work is like an abstract value such as the rectangle of the sky and the trapezoids of the ocean, wall and yellow floor. his work might be seem crafted but its the including of people and there living. yet who wouldn't want a painting that can be representing the freedom and how long is the ocean where one can relax and think there at that location. Hoppers focus on shape and the light how it comes in the home and gives light. yet, there are certain colors he wont use just because of the shapes that represent the object and the outline. There are eight things that Hopper used to construct his portraits shape, mass, light, value, color, texture, and space (chapter 4 page 81).
As for Raphael the image of Mary has exposed feet and that opens our eyes he does the contrasts with the darker tones around it while Hopper used light and around darker tones as well to make a more meaningful attraction to what the image signifies .Just as the lines around Mary and the features around implied the triangle shapes. Taking them to a place of realistic.as for the lighting they both have the same meaning to there painting trying to see what is what and where is the setting taling place standing out from shape, lines and color.

Razors edge/ what is performance art ?

The day started with a couplee of movie clips from Razors edge that Mr. Z showed us. it was a very intresting movie thought we didn't finish watching it we can get an idea from were we stopped to whats next in the movie. yet the statements that were said in the movie is like you have so many things and anything you want why not enjoy it in a way.
Bill Murray can be very emotional actor there were times the different times he changed the way of living, speaking and being emotional apond him self very wise of him. As for performace art thats what Marina Abramovic did and Bill connect with the chearacter in the movie.
what is performace art ? The moment in which the performer has his own idea and take out the image of what he/ she can create that is the IDEA! yet performance can and is real rather than theater for instance, knife and blood for theater you can cut ur self but just fake blood no oain no gain of the emotion. But performace art is real and take the knife and blood there is am impact there. unlike art trying to sell it and make something out of it performace is a unique thing object that comes ans goes, nothing to sell just its memories.
Marina has so much to say with her work it's hard to tell what one is felling rather than just showing and doing with her work. i was schocked and fasinated with her work its a striking way of feelings what if that was us. telling us and giving a chance to see how life is suppose to believed like Mr. z has said. art is about money and power the body for performance art.

    WHAT IS REALITY ???!!

Class got me thinking this previous week i was coming up with things to say but, never could say it because it may seem like so many things. i really don't have a choice or i guess say what it is in a correct way, but what is has to do with art? its the reality on what you can see the different prospectives and still be on the way to discovering what is reality with art. for instance  what is art ? that's another thing subject the relates to whats reality? there are many ways of thinking and saying it.
"Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one"
    Albert Einstein
But hang on - I consciously observe the lucid dream world, so does that make it a genuine reality?
Just how many realities are there - yours, mine, his, hers? As Einstein suggested, is every form of reality merely an  reality is everything we observe to be real. so what our brain thinks if its real that's it like Mr. Z had said is love a realistic thing REALITY to ones life or an emotional thing. many in class were thinking on what is it and all. on how we can describe it and to what is mean to us.
Just how many realities are there - yours, mine, his, hers? As Einstein suggested, is every form of reality merely an illusion? Is nothing real? Example : the movies that Mr. z showed us that was like real but yet not in our world like inception made up in our dreams.
VINCENT VAN GOGH VS. CLAUDE MONET

Vincent Van Gogh was a great artist he would even if the price to be paid for it in life was high. In a letter written to keep his brother spirit he had said that it was hard price to be a link in the chain of artist in health, youth, in liberty. And he will make art for the future and it will be so delightful that even if one gives up its serenity that they will give up their youth. As for Claude Monet it’s the kind of painting that will be easily liked with the landscape and the blue sky with the little cottage on the side. There is no need of matter explaining the art and the picture we can see it and fell like we are there with no problem. Van Gogh’s life was not like everyone else. He bought his paintings and brushes at an art supply store like we will ex: Michaels supply store, Kinko’s or where it’s cheap for one with no high class. Vans vision of the world was brush stroke. The brushes for vans were intense of seeking its colorful heightened. When Vincent died the prediction of his art work came true his painting sold for 82.5 million that was the highest paid ever for a painting. Vincent’s art lays a very powerful influential for other artist/ the most special role he plays is the western art. As for Claude Monet he belonged to a group of painters called the impressionists they met in art school in Paris. Monet spend some of his adult years in poverty, painting pictures that people just wanted unlike Vincent, he did get to see his art rise and be something and being at galleries like any other painting. Monet’s paintings from the worlds of school are still with us today but they are still artist heat struggle to be with us today. Monet’s are is everywhere and are special since many wanted them and have them in many galleries.

"3 million years of art history in 150 minutes"

Last week Mr. Z talked about the different arts, what is art and how we interpret art. Also, what is the history of art ? There was the pebble he mentioned, if it was hand mande or what happened to it i my self thought it was hand made never thought is was a waterworn pebble. the pioneer were placed in pioneer spaces and crafted as a special message from earth as to say don't have doubts about it and it's true. Than there is what is art? art can be a message expressing there feelings, the survival adventure of a person or many may see a reflection of people in art or the thinking or people what they did and think. Art can be a specific thing and very descret thing to do. so what is art to others ?
